A Right Time and a Wrong Time to Hit a Killshot in Racquetball

The killshot is a shot in racquetball that hits the front wall very low, bouncing two times before it gets to the first line on the court after rebounding off the front wall. When one opponent hits it, the other player has a very difficult time retrieving it since you must get to the ball before it bounces twice.

The best time to attempt the killshot during a rally is when you are up front in the court hitting the ball and you are able to hit the ball calf muscle high or lower. The closer you are to the front wall the lower you want to attempt to hit the ball, even at your ankles if you are very close to the front wall. With your legs wide apart and your body in a crouching position, let the ball drop low, then make contact when the ball is lined up with your lead foot.

I would highly recommend you do not attempt killshots from deep in the court. as you will give away a lot of points going for it. It is a very low percentage shot from deep in the court and will only hurt your game.

Pass, pass, and more passing is what you do the most in racquetball. Racquetball is like chess. Strategize your shots and think a shot or two ahead of play. Always have a sense of awareness for where your opponent is positioned on the court.

Knowing where your opponent is located on the court will help you identify when the best time will be for the killshot.
